Why Recyclability Is Becoming a Buying Requirement for Bath Accessories

Release Date: 2026-10-10  Views: 2129

Sustainability has moved from a marketing slogan to a purchasing requirement. Hotel groups and retail chains in Europe and North America now ask suppliers how a product is made, how long it lasts and what happens to it at the end of its service life. Bath accessories are no longer exempt from that question.

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) answers it well. Unlike thermoset rubber or laminated foam, TPU can be reheated and reprocessed, and production offcuts are reground and reused rather than discarded. For a distributor, that translates into less manufacturing waste and a straightforward answer when a client asks about environmental compliance.

Regulation is the second driver. The EU Single-Use Plastics Directive and extended producer responsibility schemes are pushing retailers to cut disposable plastic items, and the tax treatment of single-use plastics keeps getting stricter. A reusable glove or strap sits on the right side of that trend, while a disposable mesh puff does not.

Buyers also need documentation. Certifications such as OEKO-TEX and REACH compliance let a distributor show customers that the material is tested and safe, and recyclability claims are easier to defend when the product is a single polymer rather than a laminate of several materials bonded together.

Chenghao supplies recyclable TPU honeycomb gloves, back scrubber straps and cleansing fingertips in bulk with OEM packaging. View the product range or email jack@bathingglove.com for specifications and samples.
